Let all men know From the Baltic to the Black Sea that the time has come for the Great Lemming Gatherings.
The Facility:
We will be camping at the Horse Heaven camp site on Mount Laguna (same place as previous years). This will be a camping event. There is running water, trash receptacle, but no showers.
Schedule:
Site opens Friday afternoon.
Contests/games all day Saturday.
Membership meeting Saturday afternoon.
Feast Saturday evening.
Site closes on Sunday.
What you need to provide:
Your own food except Saturday feast.
Your own drinks for the weekend.
Garb (this is a costumed event) Feast gear (for Saturday night), and whatever else you need to survive the weekend.
Directions:
From San Diego take Interstate 8 East to the Sunrise Highway exit #47. Turn left (north) and drive about 13 miles north on Sunrise Highway through the town (don’t blink or you will miss it) of Mt Laguna (past mile-marker 25).
The Horse Heaven Campground entrance is on the left. There is a sign (on your right) but if you are driving fast it is easy to miss. If you reach the Al Bahr Shrine camp, you have gone too far.
There are three camp sites, we are the one at the end and the one farthest in on the right side (Buttercup and Hollyhock).
Drafn Champion:
Dust off you axes spears and bows.
On Saturday we will once again be holding a series of contests of Viking skill to select new Drafn Champions.
There will be an open category, and a Women and Youth category for women and youth 12 and under.
The competition will consist of:
- War Tourney (Drafn round, and ax or war weapon 30” or less) or Boffer Contest
- Single handed Axe throw
- Archery (twenty yards, six shots)
- Tequila Crossbow Duel (anyone over 21 must drink to enter)
- Spear toss
- Hammer toss
- Garb contest (male and female)
- Saga contest
